The Best Trabzon Neighbourhoods for Arab Families: How to Choose by Lifestyle

In short

There is no single best neighbourhood in Trabzon for everyone. Families who want to be close to everything choose central Ortahisar and nearby hillside neighbourhoods such as Boztepe, Pelitli and Yalıncak. Those who prefer modern living close to the airport choose Yomra. Those who love the coast and relative calm choose Akçaabat. Those who want nature in summer head to the highlands. The deciding criteria: distance to the airport and hospital, a secure complex with facilities, the view, and an easy paved road.

Many families call us having already decided on “Trabzon”, but then get stuck on the next question: which neighbourhood? The answer depends on how you will live: summer only or all year round? Is the priority the view or the school? Peace and quiet or being close to the shops? Here is a simple map to help you choose what suits you.

First: define your lifestyle

  • Family summers: a view, a pool in the complex, and parks and day trips close by.
  • Year-round living: schools, a hospital, transport and a nearby market, plus an easy road in winter.
  • Investment plus personal use: a location that is easy to rent out for the rest of the year.

Neighbourhoods and areas at a glance

Central Ortahisar

The heart of the city: markets, the long high street, restaurants, hospitals and government offices. Suits those who want everything within a short distance, with more traffic and buildings of mixed ages. See the Ortahisar guide.

The hillside neighbourhoods: Boztepe, Pelitli and Yalıncak

On the hills overlooking the city and the sea, close to the centre. They combine the view with proximity and have many modern projects. See the guide to Pelitli, Boztepe and Yalıncak.

Yomra

East of the centre near the airport, with modern residential projects and complexes with facilities. Suits families who want modern living and easy travel. See the Yomra guide.

Akçaabat

West of the centre, a coastal town with its own character and a wide choice of apartments and villas. See the Akçaabat guide.

The highlands

For nature, country houses and cool summers, but further from everyday services. See the guide to buying in Uzungöl and the highlands.

The criteria our Arab clients ask about

  1. Distance to the airport: for families who travel often, every minute counts.
  2. Hospital: a good hospital a short distance away, especially with children and elderly relatives. See the hospitals guide.
  3. Secure complex: security staff, a pool, parking and a children's playground.
  4. Privacy: balconies that are not overlooked, and separate entrances in some villas.
  5. The view: sea or mountain, making sure it will not be blocked. See the guide to sea-view living.
  6. The road: Trabzon is a city of hills, and a very steep road becomes tiring in winter and rain.
  7. Schools: if you will live there permanently. See the schools and universities guide.

Advice from the field

Visit the neighbourhood at two different times: a weekday morning and a weekend evening. You will see the traffic, noise, lighting and parking, things that never show up in photos. And if permanent residence is your goal, visit in winter too if you can.

In short

Choose the neighbourhood for your life, not for the photo: the centre for convenience, the hills for view and convenience together, Yomra for modern living and the airport, Akçaabat for the coast, and the highlands for nature. Then compare prices within the neighbourhood as in the Trabzon prices guide.

We show properties by neighbourhood, with a map and prices, on the Trabzon page. Contact us to arrange a tour of the neighbourhoods that suit you.

  • Uzungöl: the complete visitor's guide from Trabzon

Uzungöl is a mountain lake village in Trabzon's Çaykara district, about 99 km from the city centre (1.5 to 2 hours by car) and roughly 1,100 m above sea level. The best months are May to September, with mild days and cool nights; in winter it is snow-covered and the lake can freeze.

  • Trabzon weather month by month: rain, summer and winter as residents experience them

Trabzon is mild all year round: a warm, humid summer with highs usually between 25 and 28°C in July and August, and a mild winter on the coast at around 10°C by day, with rain spread across the year and heaviest in autumn and early winter. Snow falls on only a few days on the coast but is plentiful in the highlands. The climate means year-round greenery, and it also means that insulation, ventilation and heating are essential when choosing a property.

  • Istanbul’s Asian side: a neighbourhood guide for Arab buyers

Istanbul’s Asian side is generally calmer than the European side. It brings together historic districts such as Üsküdar and Kadıköy, a modern financial centre in Ataşehir, a long residential coastline from Maltepe to Kartal, Pendik and Tuzla, and new inland districts such as Sancaktepe. It is linked to the European side by the Marmaray line under the Bosphorus, ferries and bridges, and it is home to Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Choose your district by how close it is to a rail or metro line.
