Living in Yomra: the modern district near Trabzon Airport

In short
Yomra is a district east of central Trabzon, close to the airport and the coastal road, which in recent years has seen many modern residential projects in complexes with facilities. It suits families who travel often, and those who want a modern building with a sea or mountain view, often at a lower price than the city centre, with the centre a few minutes away by car.

When a client says “I want a modern flat in a complex, close to the airport, with a view”, Yomra is often the first place we suggest. It is where Trabzon’s modern development has spread eastwards along the coast, and it holds a large share of the city’s new projects.
Location
Yomra lies east of central Trabzon, on the Black Sea coastal road, near Trabzon Airport. It stretches from the shore to the green hills behind it, combining sea and mountain views.
Why do buyers choose it?
1. Modern buildings
A large proportion of the buildings are new, in complexes with security, swimming pools, parking and children’s playgrounds, built to modern building standards. See the building safety guide.
2. The airport
For families who spend the summer here and travel often, being close to the airport is a real convenience. For investors, proximity to the airport attracts tenants.
3. A view at a reasonable price
Sea or mountain views, and prices often lower than comparable locations in the centre. Compare in the Trabzon prices guide.
4. The coastal road
It links Yomra quickly to the centre and the eastern districts, with a seafront promenade along parts of it.
What should you watch out for?
- Aircraft noise: in neighbourhoods close to the take-off and landing path. Visit the flat at a time when flights are operating.
- The hills: some projects are on steep slopes, so ask about the road in winter.
- New neighbourhoods: some everyday services are still growing along with the development.
- Maintenance fees: complexes with full facilities have higher fees. See the maintenance fees guide.
Who does it suit?
- Gulf families who spend the summer here and want a complex with facilities.
- Permanent residents who travel often.
- Investors looking for a modern building near the airport.
Yomra compared with other areas
If being close to everything in the centre is the priority, Ortahisar is a better fit. If it is the western coast, Akçaabat. For the full comparison, read the guide to the best neighbourhoods for Arab families.
In short
Yomra is modern Trabzon: new complexes, views, a nearby airport and relatively reasonable prices. Check where the flat sits relative to the flight path and how steep the road is, and compare maintenance fees between complexes.

Trabzon weather month by month: rain, summer and winter as residents experience them
Trabzon is mild all year round: a warm, humid summer with highs usually between 25 and 28°C in July and August, and a mild winter on the coast at around 10°C by day, with rain spread across the year and heaviest in autumn and early winter. Snow falls on only a few days on the coast but is plentiful in the highlands. The climate means year-round greenery, and it also means that insulation, ventilation and heating are essential when choosing a property.

Istanbul’s Asian side: a neighbourhood guide for Arab buyers
Istanbul’s Asian side is generally calmer than the European side. It brings together historic districts such as Üsküdar and Kadıköy, a modern financial centre in Ataşehir, a long residential coastline from Maltepe to Kartal, Pendik and Tuzla, and new inland districts such as Sancaktepe. It is linked to the European side by the Marmaray line under the Bosphorus, ferries and bridges, and it is home to Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Choose your district by how close it is to a rail or metro line.
