Araklı and Arsin: Trabzon’s east coast at gentler prices

In short
Arsin and Araklı are coastal districts east of central Trabzon, beyond Yomra. Arsin is closer and has an organised industrial zone that creates demand for housing. Araklı is a little further, with the feel of a coastal town and valleys climbing to the highland plateaus. Prices in both are usually lower than in the centre and Yomra, and new coastal projects are increasing. They suit those who want the coast and peace and quiet for less, and who accept a longer distance to the centre.

The further east you go from central Trabzon along the coastal road, the calmer life gets and the lower prices fall. After Yomra come Arsin and then Araklı, two areas clients ask about when they want the coast without city-centre prices.
Arsin
- Location: on the coast, between Yomra and Araklı.
- Economy: an organised industrial zone that provides jobs and creates demand for housing.
- Housing: new coastal projects, and houses on the hills.
- Airport and centre: closer than Araklı.
Araklı
- Character: a coastal town with its own centre and market.
- Nature: green valleys climbing to summer highland plateaus.
- Housing: apartments in the town centre and on the coast, new projects and country houses.
Advantages
- Price: usually lower than the centre and Yomra for similar specifications.
- The coast: sea views at reasonable prices. See the guide to homes with a sea view.
- Peace and quiet: lower density.
- Nature: valleys and plateaus a short distance away.
What to watch out for
- Distance: longer to the centre, the major hospitals and the university. See the guide to hospitals in Trabzon.
- Rental demand: weaker than in the centre and Yomra, so calculate the yield realistically. See the rental yield guide.
- Resale: may take longer.
- Country houses: check the land type and the permit. See the guide to buying land and zoning.
Who is it for?
- Those who want a summer home on the coast on a smaller budget.
- Those who work in or near the industrial zone.
- Those who prefer quiet and have a car.
A quick comparison with other areas
For being close to everything, Ortahisar; for modern living and the airport, Yomra; for a self-contained character, Akçaabat; and for gentler prices on the east coast, Arsin and Araklı. The full comparison is in the guide to the best Trabzon neighbourhoods for families.
In short
Trabzon’s east coast is a good choice for those who put price and quiet ahead of proximity. Test the drive to the centre at peak time, compare rental demand, and check the paperwork on country houses.

Trabzon weather month by month: rain, summer and winter as residents experience them
Trabzon is mild all year round: a warm, humid summer with highs usually between 25 and 28°C in July and August, and a mild winter on the coast at around 10°C by day, with rain spread across the year and heaviest in autumn and early winter. Snow falls on only a few days on the coast but is plentiful in the highlands. The climate means year-round greenery, and it also means that insulation, ventilation and heating are essential when choosing a property.

Istanbul’s Asian side: a neighbourhood guide for Arab buyers
Istanbul’s Asian side is generally calmer than the European side. It brings together historic districts such as Üsküdar and Kadıköy, a modern financial centre in Ataşehir, a long residential coastline from Maltepe to Kartal, Pendik and Tuzla, and new inland districts such as Sancaktepe. It is linked to the European side by the Marmaray line under the Bosphorus, ferries and bridges, and it is home to Sabiha Gökçen Airport. Choose your district by how close it is to a rail or metro line.
